I just finished watching Plan 9 from Outer Space, finally. I started watching it months ago – I downloaded it last year – but ’till now just couldn’t bring myself to sit all the way through it. It was made a while ago, back in 1959, apparently before they invented acting.
I think the most bizarre part of all of it is the way everything is spoken by the characters like a narrative. There’s no subtlety.
And when you look at some of the goofs, as IMDB calls them, you really wonder just why it was they never did a second take on any scene. I mean, yeah, film’s expensive, sure, but would it kill them to even try to get it right? Gah!
