As Ellie watched great waves of water fell down the side of this giant waterfall that was every-so-quickly drifting towards her. Amazed at the sheer size of the thing, Ellie looked up in awe. Then the first sentance of this paragraph sank in and her blood froze. The waterfall was coming towards her. She was going to be sucked under. She sat frozen for an few seconde before realizing she'd better stop gapping and do something about the problem. So she reached to one side and started paddling furiously.
However, after 40 minutes she became too tired to continue and collapsed on the raft, no further from the waterfall than before. It was while she was accepting defeat that she notice the waterfall had something on top of it, an island of some sort. It was weird, this island. It sort of changed colour as she glanced at it, and it was while she was intently studying the shifting colour that she noticed something on one side of the island. It seemed to be some sort of rope, falling down from the top of the waterfall. She realized that if she could float in that direction she might be able to save herself from the crashing water and so paddled half-heartadly in the direction of the rope.
As she got closer she noticed another raft at the bottom of the rope, one like the raft she was currently floating on. However, there seemed to be some sort of device on the raft which appeared connected to the ropes. I say ropes instead of rope as at this distance she now could see that there were 2 ropes, not one. Thus, I say ropes. Please accept "ropes" as a substitute for "rope", I worked so hard on it. I hope you like it. Please tell me you like it.... ;-)
While Ellie was thinking about what would be more appropriate, rope or ropes, she drifted closer to this second raft. She realized with a start that the closer she came to the island the faster she drifted towards it. She could see rough water around the waterfall ahead and realized she was indeed being sucked into a very big whirlpool of sorts. Panicing, she noticed she was starting to go faster and turn as she was pulled into the whirlpool. She found herself heading away from the rope as the whirlpool span her around. However, on the way back around she could see she was going to brush very close with this second raft, which seemed unaffected by the whirlpool. Grim realization of her fate giving her courage, she steadied herself in preperation for the jump to the second raft. As she came flying around the outside of the whirlpool beads of sweat dripped from her forehead. 3...2...1...jump! She leaped as best she could towards the second raft. But she didn't make it, she fell short. Screaming in horror as she felt the whirlpool behind her sucking at her body, her hands manage to grab something. It was a piece of thin and worn rope dragging from the raft. White-knuckled, she pulled herself towards the raft. After what seemed an agonizingly long time, she made it to the presumably safe wood of the raft. Collapsing for several minutes to regain her breath. She panted away her fear. When she finally recollected herself she pulled herself up and look at the strange device in the middle of the raft.
[Image of raft with engine on it, with 2 ropes running through and a semi-visible lever on one side, hidden slightly in the shadows]
It seemed very complicated, and the two ropes passed through the sides of it and then through the raft itself. Pulling them she found they were quite taunt, moving only a few inches. She leaned over to look better at the strange device. As she did so she accidentally knocked a small lever that had previously remained un-noticed. Accidentally letting rip one heck of an insult at the intruding rope (which shall remain absent in the spirit of a <G> rating). All of a sudden there was a putt-putt-putt noise as the strange device, which must be a motor, started up. All of a sudden the whole raft was jolted roughly out of the water. As Ellie watched, the engine pulled itself and the attached raft up the ropes, away from the whirlpool below. Climbing and climbing, the raft ascended the side of the behemoth waterfall. As it did so, she stared upwards through the falling water to see a strange square of brown in the water. A rough hole was cut out of the center of this circle, in the centre of which there seemed to be blue emptiness. She stared in amazement at the quickly disappearing view of the square. She glanced upwards and realized she was nearing the top of the waterfall. In the distance above her she could see a solid looking rope and pulley system that was holding the ropes she was ascending on. She sat back and prepared to peek above the lip of the waterfall.
