Memiors of a Survivor

Chapter 6:

It was hours later when I opened my eyes again. It took a while to realise that I was lying on something firm. I blinked and awoke properly to see that I was lying on the muddy banks of the lake. I cried out with joy and hugged the ground. I relaxed a bit and turned over to stare at the sky. It was a fine day, with only a couple of puffy white clouds in the sky. I instantly felt better and relaxed even more. I let my head roll to the side and stared along the muddy bank. The trees were a fair way back from the shore-line and I was happy to see that there was some kind of dirt road going along the edge of the trees. I got up and sluggishly started my long walk down the road.

After nearly six hours of walking I collapsed on the side of the road. I was so tired I couldn't even think properly. I fell asleep, dreaming of home....

I awoke suddenly and instantly my hand found a stick. I quickly got up, examining the surrounding area for what had woken me. Something moved near the side of the road and I moved sideways to get a better view. Suddenly a Jaguar leapt out of the bush in front of me. I cried out, rooted to the spot. Suddenly another Jaguar jumped from my left and knocked the first Jaguar away. They started to fight and I watched, spellbound. Another, smaller Jaguar appeared from the bushes and after giving me a look, went over to watch the two Jaguars fight. I watched as the two Jaguars fought. Suddenly I realised that I would probably end up the winners prize if I stayed much longer. I found my legs and bolted along the road until the Jaguars were out of sight.
